All are welcome!
I’ve been playing with textiles for as long as I can remember and there isn’t a day goes by when I’m not creating something, or thinking about it. I’ve spent the last twenty years coping with chronic nerve pain, 6 of which I was forced to put my fabrics, needles and threads away. But I decided life’s too short, pain killers can’t be the long-term answer and I now use my craft as a total distraction and a way to take my mind off the things I don’t want to think about.
Needle felting is a process of tangling wool fibres as you stab into them with a barbed needle. The process is repetitive and strangely therapeutic. In this workshop you’ll learn the basics of this technique and create your own needle felted picture.
The cost of the workshop includes a starter pack to use on the day and take away (a felting block, felting needles and holder). All other materials will be provided.
This workshop is suitable for anyone who wants to give needle felting a go; but especially those who’d like to try distraction as a coping strategy .
Taking this class is Sharon from Sew Silly Lily, a graduate of Glasgow School or Art with a lifelong passion for textiles, craft and design.
