I’ve been playing with textiles for as long as I can remember and there isn’t a day goes by when I’m not creating something, or thinking about it. I’ve spent the last twenty years coping with chronic nerve pain, 6 of which I was forced to put my fabrics, needles and threads away. But I decided life’s too short, pain killers can’t be the long-term answer and I now use my craft as a total distraction and a way to take my mind off the things I don’t want to think about.
In this workshop we’ll play with fabrics, felt, natural materials, threads, buttons – layering them, deconstructing them, applying them and using simple hand embroidery and stitching to create a textile picture.
The cost of the workshop includes a rummage through a pile of scrap materials and everything else you might need.
This workshop is suitable for anyone; but especially those who’d like to try distraction as a coping strategy .
What you need to bring . . .
Please bring along any fabric scraps, felt, threads, embroidery floss, your button box, twigs, leaves, beach finds . . .
